Partial stay on SEBI orders against Karvy

Justice G. Raghuram of the and hra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday granted partial stay on the orders of the Security Exchange board of India (SEBI) against Karvy. It may be recalled that SEBI passed orders on April 27 placing restrictions on 84 institutions dealing with shares, securities etc. Karvy had filed a writ petition on the last working day prior to summer vacation and the case was listed for hearing on Tuesday. Meanwhile SEBI gave clarification regarding DP transactions. Justice Raghuram who heard the case at length granted partial stay and made it clear that it was applicable only to the petitioner. Film under scanner A Division Bench of the High Court declared that the controversial Telugu film, 10th Class, would be viewed by the court as well as advocates concerned. The Bench was dealing with a writ petition filed by Chinta Laxmi belonging to Telugu Mahila (women wing of Telugu Desam Party). She complained that films which have dangerous effect upon the psychology of children were being given certificates and exhibited without any control. Screening of the film for the court would be on Thursday.
