Supreme Court extends limitation for filing in all Courts/Tribunals w.e.f. March 15, 2020 in the wake of COVID-19
In lieu of the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus, the Hon’ble Supreme Court while exercising its power under Article 142 read with Article 141 of the Constitution of India, has passed an Order dated March 23, 2020, in a Suo Motu Writ Petition on the issue of limitation with respect to filing petitions/applications/suits/appeals/all other proceedings in respective Courts/Tribunals across India. The Hon’ble Supreme Court has directed that a period of limitation in all such proceedings, irrespective of the limitation prescribed under the general law or Special Laws, whether condonable or not shall stand extended with effect from 15th March 2020 till further order/s to be passed by this Court in present proceedings.
