Satyam scam: CID (Crime) books 12 people for cheating, forgery
The CID (Crime) has booked 12 people under charges of cheating, forgery and breach of trust in connection with the recent Satyam Computers Scam, after initially voicing its opposition to investigate the matter. The CID gave this information to the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate,D M Patel,on Friday. All Gujarat InvestorsÂ’ Protection Trust member Naresh Panchal had levelled allegations that the promoters of Satyam Computers and the different controlling authorities had caused immense loss to the investors in Gujarat. It had lodged a complaint with the court against Satyam Computers,Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI),National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE),in this regard. Following the complaint, the court had ordered the CID (Crime) to carry out an inquiry into the complaint under the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code. CID (Crime) Deputy Superintendent of Police Parikshita Rathod, however, denied investigating the matter saying that the concerned police station could best investigate it. Rathod, however, showed her willingness to investigate the matter after the court asked for her clarification for denying the same. On Friday,Rathod informed the court that CID (Crime) has already registered an offence in the case against 12 people, and further investigations are on.
